Does acupuncture hurt?

Patients are surprised that most of the time, they do not feel anything as the needles are inserted. Acupuncture needles are only as thick as a strand of hair, enabling practitioners to insert the needles with little if any sting. Some areas of the body tend to be a bit more sensitive to the needles, but even then, once the needles are inserted, patients do not feel them at all. Most people become so relaxed during their treatment, they actually fall asleep.

Will insurance or Medicare cover acupuncture?

While more insurance companies cover acupuncture today than in previous years, only a few offer plans which include acupuncture. Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover it. Even though most patients pay out of pocket, many find that the cost of acupuncture remains less than the cost of medications and a doctor's visit. More and more people choose to pay out of their own pocket in order to avoid the side effects of medications, and in some cases, avoid surgery.

How much does it cost?

Acupuncture sessions cost $70.00 per visit. Cosmetic Acupuncture is $90.00 per session. There is an additional charge for any herbs or supplements used in conjunction with the acupuncture treatment. Consultations are free of charge.

How many treatments will it take?

This varies from one patient to the next depending on the severity of the condition and how long it has existed. The patients overall health and age can also play a factor in the number of treatments needed. Many people see a significant improvement after the first session. Most will experience strong results by their 3rd or 4th visit. Health problems usually do not appear overnight, and therefore rarely can be treated with just one visit. Are the needles reused?

Absolutely not. We only use disposable needles as mandated by the FDA. The needles are disposed of in sharps containers immediately following the treatment.
